Now the fun can begin!!!
We can use these beginning braids and buns in many different combinations mixing braids and buns and layering different braids together to make new ones. I will be referring to earlier posts and braids so if you don't know them then you can find how.

Buns

There are a million and one ways to make a bun...I will not go in to all of them but a few include: messy buns, ballet buns, knot buns, twist buns, and bubble buns.

Mermaid Fishtail

Difficulty level: Easy Medium
Hair length: Medium -  Long

Step 1: It is the same as a mermaid braid you just want to start higher and start your fishtail with a section at the crown on your head because the fishtail braid tends to settle more and the braid falls out.

French Fishtail

Difficulty level: Easy
Hair length: Short - Long

Step 1: Make a section of hair at the crown of your head a few inches higher than where you want the braid to start. This braid tends to slid down a bit as you start that is fine.
Step 2: Split that section in 2
Step 3: Start like a basic fishtail taking a small piece from one side and crossing it over to the other section and repeating for the other side.
Step 4: Now we are going to start adding hair. Take a small piece from the first side and add hair to this piece crossing over to continue like a basic fishtail. Repeat for the opposite side.
Step 5: Repeat step 4  until you can not add any more hair.
Step 6: End with a basic fishtail. Secure with an elastic.

Rope Twist

Difficulty level: Easy
Hair length: Medium - Long

Step 1: Split the hair into 2 sections.
Step 2: Twist both sections the same way. you can twist either way in ht e picture above I twisted them to the left.
Step 3: twist the twists together the opposite way you twisted the 2 sections. in the picture above since I twisted the sections to the left I then twisted them together to the right.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you run out of hair. Remember to continue to twist the same way you started for the 2 sections and the opposite when you twist the sections together. Secure with and elastic.

Basic Braids

Lets start with the basics. You can find a tutorial on how to do a basic braid or three strand braid almost anywhere. Fishtails, and twists are also very simple and easy to find. They are the major braids that go into building other styles and you need to know how to make them but I will not be going in depth on them.

About

My college roommate and I started experimenting with hairstyles last year at the start of our college school year. We were between classes with our homework done and had nothing to do and no where to go... we were bored. So we started to take up time doing each others' hair and searching Youtube for tutorials. It was a great way to spend the time and we ended up with a wonderful supply of hairstyles for school, parties, and just wearing around. This supply we would like to share. Our favorite Youtube tutorial is Cute Girls Hairstyles a lot of the hairstyles we show are variations or recreations of looks from them so instead of telling the steps of those I will post the link to the Youtube with the variation steps added.

First post

Post Number One!!!
Since Valentine's Day is this week I thought it was fitting to start with the hairstyle:

Double Heart Lace Braid

Difficulty level: Medium Hard
Hair length: Medium - Long

Tools:
2 small elastics
rat-tail comb
curling iron
clip

Step 1: Part the hair so you have a two inch section of hair all the way around your head shaped like a heart with a point in the front and a point at the base of the neck. Use the clip to keep the middle out of the way.
Step 2: Lace braid from the outside starting at the front and moving to the back of the head. Adding hair from the outside of the braid to the bottom strand keeping the braid pulled toward the inside covering the parted heart outline.
Step 3: Repeat on other side.
Step 4: Secure with elastic at base of neck trying to keep the point shape.
Step 5: Part middle section so that you have a one inch section around the outside shaped like a heart on the inside of the outer braid heart. Use clip to keep the middle out of the way.
Step 6: Lace braid from the outside starting at the front and moving to the back of the head. Adding hair from the outside of the braid to the bottom strand keeping the braid pulled toward the inside covering the parted heart outline.
Step 7: Repeat on the other side
Step 8: Take down the middle hair and smooth down the middle between the two sides of the lace braids we just made.
Step 9: Secure all of the middle hair with the lace braids and tuck the ends under the outer heart lace braid ends.
Step 10: Curl the ends.
